What a beautiful Sushi! Temari sushi (Temarizushi) is often made for the Girl's Festival (Hinamatsuri) in Japan. It is bite-sized, so easy to eat, colorful and attractive. Temari sushi is perfect for parties. Here is the easy recipe for Temari Sushi.

What is Temari Sushi (Temarizushi)?

Temari sushi is bite-size sushi balls with ingredients made to look like Temari. “Temari” in Japanese is a type of traditional embroidered ball which used to be played with but now are more often used as decorative ornaments. Like its namesake, Temari Sushi, are round and colorful ball-shaped sushi. Main ingredients are thinly sliced fish (for example, salmon or tuna), avocado, cucumber, boiled carrot, nori seaweed or fish roe (such as massago or tobiko). Temari sushi can be enjoyed in a variety of tastes and appearances depending on the arrangement.
Easy Temari Sushi Recipe
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt
Sushi rice Here's an easy recipe for sushi rice.
Fresh salmon
Fresh tuna
Dry-cured ham
Cucumber or radish
Japanese parsley and salmon roe for the decoration of temari sushi if any.
Directions:
1. Make shredded omelets.
Whisk the egg. Add sugar and a dash of salt. Mix them well. Put oil and the egg in a frying pan and fry it thinly a few minutes and turn off the heat. Turn it over by hand or with a spatula (be careful of burns) and turn on the heat. After a minute, turn off the heat. Roll the egg.
2. Cut the fillings.
Cut shredded omelets into thin slices. Cut salmon and tuna diagonally into thin slices. Use a slicer cut cucumber into round 10 slices. Cut carrot into thin slices and boil for a few minutes.
3. Make rice balls.
Cover a small amount of sushi rice in cling wrap one by one and form into a round shape.
4. Place ingredients and a rice ball on the cling rap.
Place a cling wrap and put on layer 10 slices of cucumber. Add a rice ball and cover with cling wrap.
Place a cling wrap and put on 1/4 of the shredded omelets randomly. Add a rice ball and cover with cling wrap.
Place a cling wrap and put on a slice of salmon, Tuna and a dry-cured ham for each. Add a rice ball and cover with cling wrap.
5. Put Temari sushi on a plate and add the Japanese parsley and egg roe if any.
