A Busy Spring with Patia – The Joy of Being a Tour Guide for International Guests in Tokyo

Since March, our classes have been filling up fast—thank you to everyone who’s joined us so far! With so many wonderful guests visiting, I’ve had the chance to guide some sessions myself recently, and I have to say… it’s been such a joy.

What makes it so special is the people. Many of our guests come from countries far away—places I’ve never been to, and cultures I don’t often get to experience. Meeting them, hearing their stories, and sharing moments together is something I treasure. Every session feels like a small cultural exchange.

Of course, we’re here to introduce Japanese culture and food, but I find that I’m also learning so much from our guests. Whether it’s about their daily life, food traditions, or travel adventures, their stories are always fascinating and eye-opening.

It’s also such a fun surprise when I meet someone from a country I’ve actually visited. It brings back memories, and I enjoy talking about the places I’ve been and hearing how locals experience them—it always makes the world feel a little smaller and more connected.

Even on the busiest days, these moments remind me why I love doing what I do.

I’m so grateful for the chance to meet people from all over the world and to share a bit of Japan with them.
